Third Group 2
Autumn is the best time to plant a variety of plants in the South. New plants, such as trees and shrubs, need to avoid the summer heat. They will have time to put down roots before really cold temperatures arrive. Next spring, they will be healthy and strong and ready to be enjoyed as they bloom and grow.
Gardeners can find trees and shrubs for sale at nurseries. With research, they learn which plants need shade and which ones need to be planted where the sun shines. They will find out how much or how little water each type of plant needs. They will also want to know how fast the plant grows. Some trees and shrubs grow very tall, very fast! Others are dwarf plants; they stay short.
